Id like to start taking my notes all digitally, but since typing does not elicit the same memory response as writing on paper or with a stylus I'm in need of some tablet recommendations.

Preferably something at a mid range price point $300-500. I like responsiveness so itd need to have a decent processor.

I don't really know anything about tablets

that price point doesn't give you a lot of options - for Apple devices, you're looking at either of the Pro iPad form factors. Might be able to get a used or refurb in that price range but the pen isn't included which isn't cheap.

Your ideal setup is the Microsoft Surface or Surface Pro series - the pens responsiveness have gotten progressively better each revision. The tie-in between OneNote and the pen is pretty solid starting with the Surface Pro 3 model. There were some good discounts for holiday shoppers, but I don't think you'll find a pro series in that price range but you may be able to find a Surface 3 online. I don't think any brick and mortar retailers carry them, but you can still find them on webstores like Amazon and...

My biggest grievance against Microsoft's tablets is the cost - their devices and their accessories are too expensive compared with other manufacturers. It's good quality but you're definitely paying for that quality.
