Alright, I've posted here a few times about my XFX GTR RX480. It's the 8GB Black Edition. I got around to setting a custom fan curve for it, and the fans are spinning a lot faster than stock now. When under load, it reached around 85C to 87C. Is this alright for an AMD card such as mine? I know AMD GPUs run hotter, but is this decent?

Solution
Had a XFX RX 480 and no matter what I did (under volt, fan solutions) I couldn't get that card temp down. My understanding is that XFX cards seem to have this issue but RX cards do seem to run hot. I switched it out for a MSI 1070 and without changing anything my GPU temp dropped about 20C (load)! Performance went up a ton also.

What is ambient temperature there? > 85C seem a bit hotter to me.

I have MSI RX480 8GB GamingX and it mostly stay at ~67C & max i have seen is 74C i think. (Ambient is 23C)

85 - 87 does seem a bit high. Ambient temps will tell more of the story. Are those temps after an extended gaming period? How fast do they drop once the load is off?

That card is non-reference design that dumps heat into the case. So it will build up if airflow is inadequate.

For 35C ambient, temps will be in between 38-45C (Depends on case airflow) on idle and ~70-75C on load.

Yes, on idle I get 32C to 47C or sometimes it's 50 to 52C but when I play far cry 4 on ultra settings I get 89C.. Help pls.. Should I lower the max temp of gpu in after burner?? I don't think it will do anything.. Mac temp is 90c btw

May be airflow issue as i have never seen mine at 80C, which case do you use & how many case fans are there in you system?
Any overclock?

I dont think it is a airflow issue. I have this case and it has 1 rear fan, 1 top fan and 2 front fans (https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/9g2/Game-Max-Destroyer-Gaming-Case-120mm-Blue/B016B8AX6A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498551813&sr=8-1&keywords=Max+destroyer+case)

If its not ambient temp then I think its the PSU.. I haven't cleaned my PSU with air can for a year. I have to buy a can and its not available at local shops here. I barely found one online and here it is (http://www.amazon.in/Foooit-Duster-Dust-Remover-Compressed/dp/B00MWPOCLO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498551899&sr=8-1&keywords=air+can)

The rear side of the PSU fan is full of dust so do you think thats the reason? Also is the air can any good? (Just in case)
And sorry RCFprod but plss :(
