1 GB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM A-DATA)
Intel® 82865G Graphics (Integrada)
ExcelStor Technology J880 (80 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133)

I Want to this :

It is noticing the change?

I choose this chipset because if I choose Pxx I have no more money for the VGA, after it ADD TO this money when you have a good video.

The difference in performance will be huge. The Core 2 series blow the Pentium D series away by leaps and bounds. Its a decent setup.

BTW whats your budget? Maybe we can get you a bit better setup if you let us know how much you want to spend.

Get the e7200 not the e4600. Faster 45nm cpu for the same price. They oc better and run cooler.

^If the mobo he gets supports it. Its a older G33 chipset for now and it may not support it.

You should be able to sell your old Pentium D 925 CPU on ebay to help pay for your new system.

Your motherboard should support the E7200. Definitely get that. Either way you'll notice a difference (just went from PD 940 to E8300).

^Why would you not want to try and add a GPU? For $450 thats an easy thing to do. But if it was me any of the G33 chipsets will be the best choice. And the E7200 will beat the E4600 easily.

Imo go with a P35/P45 and a cheap video card like a 8400GS. If you can't afford it consider waiting a few weeks and saving up ~$60-80 more and getting a P35-DS3L($85) and a 8400GS($20-30).

^You can cut the price of the mobo by getting the Gigabyte DS3L which is like $82 bucks. It has a P35 chipset and is well worth it.

Wow. They are really over charging. Plus they have stuff thats like 3-4 generations behind. Insane. They have old Pentium 4 Northwood mobos..... with HT.

Then I guess your best bet is to just save up some money. $25 bucks shouldn't take ya long and maybe by then the store will drop the prices a bit.

The onboard video (IGP) of the MSI motherboard is more powerful than the GeForce 8400 GS. The motherboard has a PCIe Gen2 x16 slot when you have saved enough money for a discreet video card.

The AMD X2 5400+ at 2.8GHz is roughly the same speed as the e4600 at 2.4GHz.
