Question Decided to Upgrade/Rebuild wife's computer..

I decided to upgrade/rebuild my wife's computer. She loves gaming and plays WoW, Modern Warfare, Overwatch, and also wants tonget more heavily into streaming. Here's what she currently has:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z97 GAMING 5 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 1TB Solid State Drive
Video Card: MSI MSGTX970G4G GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G Graphics Card
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

It is and has been a great computer. Honestly have never really had an issue with performance for those most part. Here's what I wanted to upgrade..please let me know what you think. Don't wanna break the bank but also don't want to short the performance..

Whats the difference on motherboards? Some have $50 differences but no different specifications when comparing..?

Ok I'm going back and forth on motherboards and am really having trouble figuring out which one to get... originally I was going with MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS but the more I've read the more I head it has some VRM issues and doesnt support 9th gen..or has issues with 9th gen. While I was going with a 8th gen CPU I'm thinking of maybe a 9th gen..or at least something that can support a 9th gen with no issues.. still looking for help and suggestions..thanks!
