Samsung LC27HG70QQNXZA C27HG70 27-Inch HDR QLED Curved Gaming Monitor (144Hz/1ms) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSQ5QN8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-.IpBb8C19FTH

LG 27UK650-W 27" 4K UHD IPS Monitor with HDR10 and AMD FreeSync Technology (2018) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_5aJpBbT0QVEA1

I've heard great things about QLED, I'm not sure if the decrease in resolution vs the LG monitor is worth it. Both seem to have freesync, and HDR (HDR is important to me). I'm open to other recommendations, I don't want to spend more than the LG monitor.

Main use is games and movies. Looking for a monitor that will be a bit future proof (as well as I can do that with my budget).

The 1440p screen is 144Hz too, allowing higher frame rates to be displayed, whereas the 4K is a typical 60Hz.

And what kind of hardware is this being paired with? At 4K, even current high-end graphics cards can struggle to run many games at high settings with smooth frame rates. 1440p is arguable more practical for the time being.

I do notice a number of complaints about quality control issues in the user reviews for the Samsung screen though, so that's something worth considering.

Yeah, I noticed that the Samsung has some poor quality control, so I'm not sure. I'm not sure what GPU I'll be using yet, but it'll be one that'll be capable of running games at 4k. It's a toughie!

The Samsung seems like the better choice, but I just don't want to get one and it'll have some defect, like a lot of the reviews are pointing out.
