Hi there,

Two part question here - answer one or both as per your expertise.

Part One: I'm upgrading my monitor setup (Currently have triple monitor but have not been happy with game resolution 'fixes').

I think I've narrowed it down to

- AOC U3477PQU 34"
http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=23894
- ACER XB280HK BPRZ 28"
http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?r=p&partid=23691

Am I on the right page ? Which of the two offer best bang for buck ?

Part Two: Am I shooting for the moon here, will my rig still handle gaming to the 4K side of things at high fps ?

Interested in newer games naturally, play a whole selection though so ballpark answers if possible.

Rig Specs:

- Asus Z87 Extreme Motherboard
- i5 4670K CPU OC'd to 4.3ghz (Water cooled)
- SLI GTX770 4gb
- FSP Aurum 850W PSU Gold 80+
- 1866mhz Corsair Dominator Ram x16gb (2x8)

Thanks all!

No single GPU configuration today (not even GTX980Ti) can handle 4k gaming properly, especially if you aim for above 60 fps with everything maxed on all available AAA games and in the near future.
The sweet spot for today is more 2560x1440 or maximum 3440x1440.

Moreover, there are also several monitor panel types. Consider them if you plan to get a new one.
Budget:
1. TN: fast but less image quality, usually for hardcore gamers. (up to 144Hz refresh rate)
2. IPS: slow but excellent image quality with excellent viewing angle, usually for watching movies and photo/video editing. (max 60Hz refresh rate)
New but expensive:
Fast IPS: fast with excellent image quality andexcellent viewing angle, for everyone (best of everything) but still sh*t expensive. (up to 144Hz refresh rate)

True screen tearing solution, you might wanna consider of having this on your next monitor, if you are a hardcore gamer:
GSync (nVidia) and FreeSync (AMD)
The older VSync and adaptive VSync are only workarounds with side effects.

Display ratio is also a topic:
16:9/16:10 most widely used.
21:9 warming up to be the possible next mainstream, a good alternative to 3 monitors solution.
My next monitor would be 21:9.

XB280HK is a 4k TN panel with only 60Hz.
Here, you have both TN and IPS weaknesses but the monitor is considerably cheap.
I would not take this at all. The only pro about this monitor is only...that thing is cheap...no more

U3477PQU is a 21:9 60Hz IPS. This has all the good and bad things in IPS, not yet the fast IPS.
I would actually consider this if refresh rate is not important to you.

Now, to my advice.
If you are ready to pay for U3477PQU, I would recommend 2 monitors.
The first one is XB270HU. This is a 2560x1440 144Hz IPS monitor with GSync. The best gaming upgrade you can get below USD1000.
It is fast, it has GSync and excellent image quality with excellent viewing angle. (I own XB270HU, if you are curious)
The second one is X34BMiphz. This is a 3440x1440 100Hz curve IPS monitor with GSync. The best of the best with everything ...ummmm....this is the bitter part....but costs above USD1k price.
If you are willing to wait ASUS will join the fight very soon with PG279Q and PG348Q, price and launch are however still unknown.
