Hi Everyone, Im currently thinking of replacing my slow SSHD in my laptop with a SSD and i have a few options i can buy,

1. Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD
2. Sandisk Plus 480 GB SSD
3. Kingston UV300 480 GB SSD

These are all currently going at the same price and would like to know which one is the best value for money in terms of speed and storage.

Thanks

Solution
Thats a good modern one, I checked online ..good news
Yes its SATA 600 / SATA III so you will be able to benefit from a faster SSD.

I would still go for a larger Drive though If you like gaming on the Laptop.

The extra ram is always nice to have but the real speed benefit is low, as there are few games or apps that would push it over 8gb
Options 2-3 are much slower , the samsung is 100% faster,

but all these drives their 4k writes are 100x faster than old HDDs, which makes windows feel so much faster.

Depends on the laptop though , as some are only SATA 300 (max 300MB per second) in which case I would get number 2 the Sandisk,
as you wont be able to utilize the speed benefits of the samsung

So the Kingston and the Sandisk are not good options in this case

Unfortunately those AMD SSD's aren't available at where i live

Personally I Myself prefer the Samsung SSD, but the problem is that per GB it is very expensive, the 500GB Edition is around $209, while the Kingston and the Sandisk are $151, At the same time i also have to buy a RAM Stick as well, so i can spend all my money on the Samsung or evenly divide it between the RAM and the SSD. I have also checked with the Kingston SSD, (Model is Kingston SSDNow UV 300) This is a rebrand of the older model with better features, and the specs sheet say that it is capable of having around 550 MB/s Read and 510 MB/s write, is this value true as in practically or is it just theoretically?

Laptop is A Lenovo Y50-70 (20378 Model)

So A larger drive is better and i kind of need the extra RAM cause i would be doing 3DS Max and Maya at times as well, and my 8GB is not enough to pull that off most of the time, okay then thanks for the reply

Thanks for the help, My SSHD is a real pain at times so i really need the extra speed

Hi Kanishka-5

I see you have got your answer but thought you might be interested in this site. It shows comparisons between hard disks.
The site is called userbenchmark
http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Evo-250GB-vs-SanDisk-SSD-Plus-240GB/2977vsm25612

I noticed you mentioned that you also want to use Maya / 3DS Max. I checked the specs on Maya and it suggests 4GB min and 8 GB recommended. So I guess you are fine there.

Re the AMD SSD I also found that it may actually be a rebadged OCZ drive. So have a look at OCZ as another option.
OCZ is owned by Toshiba. Do a search "who owns ocz" in google

Hope that helps.

Thanks i already checked through the site as well, the problem with buying SSD's are that not a lot of products are available, only like the most common ones like samsung, kingston, sandisk, intel, crucial etc... are available
