ok i don't plan on playing games that are cpu intensive more like gpu intensive more so older gamers that are really fun like battlefield bad company 2 vietnam / alan wake / black ops

gpu intensive games

so i like the i5 3570 i'v been looking at it for a long time but now i see the 4th gen i5 4670. which one should i get? for a 1st build for a gamer coming over from console to pc gaming.

between the two cpu's which one will give me better performance for gpu intensive gaming?

well the i5 4670k is the better processor in general i would recommend that one as there is quite a high performance increase but because you want to play older games then the older i5 will be fine, i would still go with the 4670k personally

non k not ocing

but with the newer 4th gen what would i be getting better than if i were to get 3rd gen?

ok kewl well then i also like the idea of newer gene for some reason mayb because the mobo is what iv been looking for that i couldn't find in the z77 world

il probably get the asus z87-a mobo has features for ocing / sli if i ever needed them :)

go for the 4th gen. It uses less power, is slightly faster, and you can get them for the same price. Also, it is more future proof, since 4th gen processors will be around longer than 3rd gen.

sorry dident notice but yeah if you have the money the i5 is the better choice because of the performance boost, your processor will be able to offload more data to the gpu than the previous cpu, also you will be getting a longer life, and less chance of bottlenecking in the future if you decide to buy a new gpu...however both cpus are very good and both would suit your needs just fine

Never say never - getting a K suffix cpu allows more options. Many people have their cpus overclocked for years with no ill effect. The non K parts are good but the option to get extra speed if needed may keep you from upgrading so soon.

What is your budget for this build? If it is a bit on the low side and, if the games you are looking to play are more dependant on GPU, you might want to consider a less expensive CPU and get a better GPU. Older games generally don't use more than 2 cores. A Haswell Pentium or i3 may be sufficient, nor need a Z87 board, giving more money towards GPU.

hey kat, i'v been looking for a 650 watt psu haswell certified for a couple hrs & couldn't find a decent one
though idk if there decent im reading consumer review on the psu and there not good..
so can you suggest another psu for my build.

cpu - i5 4670 non k

mobo - asus z87-a

ram - corsair vengeance 8gb 2x4 ddr3 1600 dual channel kit

gpu - evga geforce gtx 650ti 2gb gddr5 pci express 3.0

hdd - western digital black 500gb 7200rpm

odd - drw-24b1st

psu - ???

chassis - corsair graphite 230t black

im sure you might know this but psu must be haswell certified

thanks again,
