Decision with my gaming build

Hey guys, I am struggling to make a decision here on which computer to buy and would really like some advice.

All I want is a gaming PC that can play games well, I have recently brought a 1060 SSC and will be using this. I will not be playing anything above 1080p 60hz.

I will be upgrading my graphics card to the new series when they are released so I would ideally want a CPU that will be good.

Should I buy a 8700k or 8600k? I will not be overclocking.

Should I buy the Asus Prime A motherboard or some cheap one?

The intel z370 chipset motherboards are anything but cheap. Why would you buy a k overclock enabled processor if you do not plan to overclock it? Go with a non k version!
It is hard to tell, what will bottleneck a new gpu generation, without knowing anything about those chips. But here use this chart:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3192807/ultimate-bottlenecking-guide.html

Shortly, the i7 8th gen CPUs are the best you can get in this moment for gaming and they probably wont bottleneck nvdia´s 2018 lineup.

Well the simple answer is the boost you get from the k version in comparison to the normal.

And the difference in motherboards is £150 and £120 for budget.

I guess 8700k will be better for future GPUs at least for 4/5 generations?

If you preffer a better gaming experience i would go for the 8600k, if you preffer a better workstation i would go for the 8700k (the 8600k is just a little better (maybe 10fps) in games which use single/ or quad core, for the games that use Multi core the 8700k will be better. But most games use only single core.)
And for the motherboard you should go for a cheap one, because it will porbably be enough. But if you want to overclock i would go with the Asus Prime (pretty board for easy overclocking)
Expensive MB's are mostly for easy/safe overclocking

Like said before the 8600k has 6 cores, thats more than enough for most games there are todays. But for the future and if the games might use multicores the 8700k will be definetally better but with just ~5& (no more than 10fps) so i would go for the 8600k

And for a good framerate you need a good gpu, so if you worry about fps go for a better gpu.

And btw the 8700k cost 100 more euros

Yeah so I was going to pay an extra 100 pounds and buy the 8700k which if you think about it, is not much right?

I still am unsure what to buy, surely the 8700k would be more future proof otherwise it would not exist?

I understand what you mean but the difference is so little that I wouldn’t pay those 100 extra pounds. I would rather suggest to put that money into a better graphics card. I understand that you probably won’t do that. But it’s your choice.
You say that 8700k is not future proof but what if the multithreading will start after 50 years from now (if at all). I am certain that you will have a another computer at that time. The truth is that nobody can know what will happen. So it’s totally your choice but i would go with the 8600k once again.

depends on the game, since you dont want to overclock go i5 8400

the i5 8600k/8700k are UTTERLY wasted on you for 1080p ~60hz gaming

you are dumping money on cpu that would be better used on a better monitor, motherboard, ram, or ssd

If you don't plan on overclocking, you should look into the non-k versions (i7 8700, i5 8600). That'll save you some green and the only difference besides the k versions being overlcockable is a tiny 100mhz (I think) difference in clock speed, which won't do much for games.
I have an 8700 with the exact same GTX 1060 SSC on an Asus ROG Z730-e motherboard and games like PUBG and Fortnite get a steady 60fps on my ultrawide 1080p60 monitor, and the CPU doesn't even hit 50% in-game. The 8700 and 8600 are both six-core processors so even the 8600 should be able to run demanding games without a problem.

As to your motherboard question, Asus motherboards are pretty solid in my experience. Definitely recommend.

I have ordered the 8700k for a couple of reasons.

Firstly the price was reduced this morning by another £15 making the gap between the 8700 like £30 and £85 for the 8600k.

In addition to this, I have been thinking and it may be worth upgrading my monitor at some point in the near future to 1440p 144hz, and for this reason I thought it would be better to get a CPU that I can OC (which I have never done before).

I will upgrade my graphics card to a better version when the newer series is released by NVIDIA.

Let me know your thoughts!
