So I grabbed the old Pentium 200 computer that's been sitting unused in my
parents basement for years, but now I'm not sure what I should do with it.
I have most of the main components of my K6-450 as well, so I could mix
and match components to make another reasonably fast computer, or I could
keep the Pentium as it is for playing older games. What should I do?

Basically the only thing wrong with the K6-2 is the power supply, and it
doesn't have a sound card, network card or monitor. I can get all those
parts from the Pentium.

On another note, I found a game compilation cd which includes The Savage
Empire, so I'll finally be able to check that out. It's rarer than Martian
Dreams, isn't it? The compilation cd seems to have been bundled with a
Creative product, probably a video card and has lots of EA/Origin titles
including U7 and UU1.

Great, you can create a computer which is almost exactly like my
dinosaur that I wish I had the money to upgrade.

Savage Empire is(was?) actually easier to get than Martian Dreams.

Yes. EA released it in a compilation, whereas MD never came out in any
collection, to my knowledge.

I'd probably still be using the K6-2 if I hadn't suppressed the miser in
me and splurged - it helps not paying for cable/car maintenance.

Interesting... Maybe it's the original box SE that's harder to find than
MD.

Ok, so once the ions settled I realised that maybe this old 17" monitor
didn't like being unused in a cold, damp basement for several years :)

I was looking forward to having a test / gaming machine... Maybe I'll
splurge and just get another monitor.

Funny you should mention UU1... I'm playing that these days. Doing
rather good, as you'll soon see over in my proper return thread.
