Hi

I just recently upgraded my gpu to amd's r9 380 2gb..previously was nvidia gtx 750. Now i noticed performance issues after this upgrades took place. When i play fallout 4 using gtx 750 (non ti) it was smooth with about 30+ fps high-ultra settings on 900p res.

However my r9 380 got 20-30fps with the same settings how could this possibly happen! Im aware that the r9 should be more powerful than the non ti gtx 750. The same case happens with my other games ex. Mgs5.

Could anyone help me on this..i would like to know whats causing the issue here. Im currently using the latest driver version of amd crimson 16.1.

Here are my system specs :

Amd fx 6300 stock clock at 3.5ghz
aerocool kcas 600w psu
asus strix r9 380 2gb ddr5
asus m5ax motherboard
Win 10 64 bit

Wow, that's a horrible way to classify a "good" PSU - wherever you got that from, I would never trust a word their salepeople said ever again.

As far as the best for you - it'll depend where you're located. I'll assume the US for the some recommendations (prices vary dramatically elsewhere).

Very few PSUs can be judged on brand alone, and you need the model. (for example Corsair - they have good PSUs RMi, AXi, but they also have poor models - CX, CS). The only ones that you're able to judge on brand alone would be SeaSonic and XFX (made by SeaSonic).

You'd want a solid, quality 500/550W PSU as a minimum.

Some examples (some exceed 550W, but are a great price):

As much as you have the latest AMD drivers....did you fully remove any trace of nVidia drivers beforehand? There may be a driver conflict going on that's causing the problem.

Secondly, I'm not aware of any "good" Aerocool PSUs.....and as much as the 380 shouldn't add too much additional power draw over the 750 at idle, there is still a power draw increase (at load it will around 150W more....maximum of course), it might just be that your PSU is incapable of powering it adequately.

OK maybe the driver conflicts could be the issue, i'll give it a try to remove any traces of the previous Nvidia drivers and let you know the updates. So about my PSU, do i need to get something better and what is your recommended PSU for my rig? I bought the PSU cause im on a tight budget back then and the sales guy told me its a good PSU considering not many people have complain anything on it.
