Hey,

I have a bitlocker encrypted disk and I know the pass but I don't have the recovery key. Yesterday I had asked if it's possible to recover my files without the original pc components and the answer was "not without the recovery key" ... I will wipe the hdd clean, but it is possible that encryption key might be printed somewhere, so if I get a clone of hdd then wipe it, in case I find the recovery key, would it be possible to decrypt clone?

I only have the hdd and It doesn't boot without the original pc components. I know my pass but don't have the recovery key and need this hdd, so I will clone it to a usb disk with the hope of finding recovery key among my files then wipe it. Thanks for the answer

Motherboard is fried along with the cpu because of a malfunctioned psu... I don't want to spend money for a nee hdd also.

If you didn't back up the recovery key at the time you encrypted the drive then the contents of that drive are permanently unrecoverable. That's the entire purpose of encryption, to prevent exactly what you are trying to do. If it were as easy to recover that key as you think then it wouldn't be a very secure method of protection now, would it?

I am not questioning the purpose of bitlocker encryption and question is not "how can I bypass bitlocker" but thanks anyway
