Dedicated gpu with integrated GPU

Sorry for this newbie question but if I install a dedicated GPU to my computer will it pair with my integrated GPU or will the integrated GPU be disabled ?

I have a crappy dedicated gpu just to run a dual monitor setup but to play my games I want to use my integrated GPU how is that going to work ?
