Dedicated graphics card is detected in device manager, but nowhere else?

Hi friends. My issue is as follows:

After upgrading my laptop to windows 10, i had several issues with my dedicated graphics card, AMD Radeon HD 8500M. After tinkering about it for several hours, uninstalling drivers both manually and by using DDU that i found suggested in this site, and reinstalling them both automatically and manually, it ended up like this:

My graphics card is recognised in the Device Manager, but when i right click on the desktop -> display settings -> advanced display settings -> display adapter properties, it shows the adapter as Microsoft Basic Display Driver, and the amd is nowhere to be found. In addition, i couldn't find it in any in-game options where i could previously find it and select it.
Trying to make sense of this, I disabled the laptop's chipset Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 in device manager, and seeing how my monitor didn't flicker, i assume the amd is running? but it is obviously not running properly, because i get like 10 fps even in age old games like Diablo 2, whereas before i could play games like dota 2, heroes of the storm, league of legends and the like without any issues.

If it is relevant in any way, processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M @2.40GHz, with 6.00GB RAM, running windows 10 Home 64bit

I am at a complete loss. any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience with W10 so far, it's always helpful right after a fresh install to let Windows update itself, without installing any drivers.
Once the initial updates are done, then check your device manager to see if there is any hardware left over that has not installed.
Then only load drivers for that hardware.
UPDATE IF YOU HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM:
Went out for the day and came back ~10 hours later, upon turning on my laptop, windows requested a restart to apply updates, and the problem was fixed. Can't make much sense of it, since as i said earlier, manually looking for updates said there was nothing new. Maybe a windows hotfix, seeing how windows 10 are rather new. Either way, since the problem is now fixed, i will stop monitoring this thread for solutions. Best of luck to you.
