Hi Guys,

I was wondering if you could help me out. I am thinking of a dedcated streaming/recording PC. I wonder if I should get the e5 2670 or the i7 3930k.
the xeon has 8 cores and 16 threads, speeds 2.6 - 3.3
the i7 has 6 cores and 12 threads, speeds 3.2 - 3.8
I also have a avermedia live gamer HD to capture the video from my gaming PC.
What I want to do is to stream at 720@30 (or even maybe 720@60) and simultaneously record at 1080@60 with xsplit. In the Background a few things like reaper for live noise reduction, tipeeestream for alerts and so on.
Is more cores and slower clocks the way to go or the other way around? The question is pure about performance, not prize :)

Thanks in advance!

Solution
If you want to do dual-encoding (streaming AND recording), run filters and so on, you want more threads and not higher clock speed.

Stick with the Xeon if this is the sole purpose for that PC.
