Deep CPU Scratch

I ordered a Intel Core i3-2100 and whilst unpacking it I scratched the silver part and it is pretty deep. I can see copper now and I'm afraid I damaged it. Will it affect anything or will it even work? Thanks!

Most probably not damaged, the scratch will get filled up with paste and have minimal influence in cooling ability.

I have seen them with much more damage and still working. That "silver thing" is just the cover and heat spreader, actual CPU is inside it.
