Deep sleep error when attempting to install Realtek Ethernet Driver on a literally BRAND new PC

Just 3 days ago, I decided to give my PC a LONG overdue upgrade. Heading to Fry's, I bought an
-Asus M5a78l-m/usb3- motherboard,
an -AMD fx6350 6-core 4.2Gb- Cpu (Wraith heatsink),
a -Radeon R7 370 2G DDr5- Graphics card,
-Raidmax Super Blade- tower,
and an -Antec VP630f- Power supply.

Now, when i hooked this all up, I used my old SATA Hdd and Win 7 install, under the impression (as compared to how things used to be, when this stuff was easier) that i would be able to simply hook it all up, install my drivers and be good to go. After recieving a series of error messages I'm sure some of you Gurus are familiar with: "The Realtek network controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled, please plug in the cable", and I promptly got a headache.

I quickly hit the intrawebs, searching high and low (including Tom's, and scouring the various forum posts of folks with my same problem, but with different setups or experiences) and after a few failed fix attempts, was told by a few folks that I probably just needed to wipe my install and get a fresh version of windows. I then spoke to my semi-Guru buddy, and he said "Why not give the ASUS support line a call and see what they think?" I did exactly that, and they said the exact same thing: fresh install of windows.

SOOOOO..... after NUMEROUS steps taken, including but not limited to (the best of my memory) -Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver,
-unplugging my PC's power and waiting 10-60 minutes,
-removing the CMOS battery and waiting 60+ minutes,
-checked BIOS for my LAN settings (of course, they were fine....)

I've even gone so far as to Get a fresh Install of Windows (my last version was a non-genuine Win7, so I just got Win10) installed it, and then came the nail-biting moment of truth: and the driver STILL failed on me, the same damned error message and everything.

People, not only am I at a complete loss, but I am at my wit's freaking end with this garbage. I could really use a guiding hand.... At this point, I've spent hundreds of dollars on a really quiet, powerful paperweight.

My Asus install disk tells me that it is literally incompatable with Windows 10 (which is idiotic), so I downloaded the appropriate drivers straight from the Asus site itself.

Now, if all else fails, I suppose it's not out of the question to just go back to Fry's and exchange my Asus MBD for some other brand, or even a new board if this one is just malfunctioning, but I'd REALLY like to know why this is even happening! MY thought is that, when doing some research on available drivers, it seems Asus has much more support for, and leans more heavily towards Laptops and Tablets, and I suppose it's possible that their drivers are just mistaking the PC for a Laptop or tablet.

In case you're thinking, yes, I've ensured that i have the exact driver for my MBD's model number and a different Driver for Win10 than i did for Win7.

I'm sorry for writing a novel, but I'm just trying to make sure you have as much info as possible.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Hi Trunkadunk and I think your first mistake was to boot up with an existing OS from another PC setup.
This can corrupt your Bios and as you have cleared CMOS with no success, then I suggest your try a Bios flash.
Go into ASUS support and download the latest Bios file to an empty USB stick and formatted to Fat32.
Refer to page 2-2 section 2.1.2 of your MB Manual for EZ Flash2 and follow the instructions.
Once your Bios has been flashed, then do a clean install of Windows.

Yeah, my first out of many, apparently. :) That's a pain in the ass, but this whole process has been a pain, so whoooo cares!! I'll jump on that here right quick, thanks!

In the event that this proves unsuccessful as well,do you know of any good AMD-compatable boards that DON'T use realtek? I did a few boolean searches, to no avail, as most issues with realtek surround Audio issues, not ethernet issues.

Thanks again. :)

EDIT** HOLY SHIT, ITS WORKING!!!
So, it dawned on me that I hadn't tried to reset my motherboard via: removing peripherials, power, RAM, and CMOS battery since the new install, I did all 4 of those things for around an hour. When I came back, it prompted me to make a BIOS decision, so I chose "Boot with Default Bios Settings" as I had on the previous install, but since this was POST Win10, I suppose that was really all it took!!

I was literally ready to do a full BIOS flash, but thankfully that's not necessary, nor do I have to get a different motherboard.

Thanks so much for your help!!
