Default DMZ server Netgear VEGN2610 causing network problems in games

I've a default DMZ server configured on a Netgear VEGN2610 router (never mind the reason, I have too..), and it's causing me network problems in games which I get kicked from basically almost any multiplayer game after couple of minutes of a match start for network issues. I confirmed this is stopping when I disable the DMZ server. What could cause this problem with the DMZ server? What can I do to fix it without permanently disabling the DMZ server, since it used to be fine sometime ago (like a year,, I stopped playing games often :/) ?

Getting disconnect from a game for network issues is normally due to not enough packets getting to your computer (lost packets) or packets taking too long to get to your computer (high latency, lag). Packets getting dropped by a firewall rule or routed to your DMZ server could cause the former, while heavy traffic to your DMZ server could cause the latter.

If your game gives you connection stats, turn that on and watch that.
Review your port forwarding rules for the DMZ server.
Review your firewall rules.
Check logs for rejected packets from the game servers.

Just some guesses without knowing that much about your setup.

Everything is default besides the default DMZ server
No firewall rules nor port forwarded.
I've talked with a representative of the ISP and talked to him about the issue. He said it might be a defect in the router and I should try to replace it.
They're sending a technician next week to replace the router, but I'm a bit skeptical about the router being "defective" in someway and having this effect, what do you think?

I think your ISP doesn't have a clue and so they are going to throw some hardware at it. I'll cross my fingers for you.

Yea it sounds like this to me as-well, but this is why I came here seeking help, any idea why would the dmz cause this?

Since you are using the default setup (no port forwarding), all inbound traffic is directed to the DMZ server. It's possible your DMZ server is getting flooded with requests, thus hogging all your bandwidth. If this was the case, you would see the activity light going nuts, even when your not doing anything. Another possibility is that packets that should have gone to your computer are being routed to the DMZ server improperly. Improper routing could be the result of a faulty router (or corrupted config ??) and getting a new one could fix it. Whatever it is, it's not a common problem.

Wanted to let you know that a new router didn't solve the router. I guess I'll need to call my ISP again, what should I tell them, like giving them a "help" on what might cause the problem to direct them to really help me this time.
