Hello,

Just put together a new rig & played team fortress 2 for 30 minutes to see what that did to the system.
Looking at CPUID HW Monitor I have some concerns

  1. Max voltage across all cores @ 1.487 (is this too high?)
  2. Cpu boosts to 4.5ghz. (Amd box says 4.2 max)
Gigabyte B450M DS3H
Ryzen 2600x
Ballistix Sport LT 3000

Note: Only Bios setting I adjusted was the XMP, allowing 2933mhz.
Note 2: My PSU is super old (2008) Antec TP3-550, new PSU on it's way.

It's definitely on the high side.... but a lot of BIOS' at 'stock' do so.

Ensure your BIOS is up to date first of all.

As far as boosting, CPU's certainly can boost beyond their rated maximum - but what you're likely experiencing here is 'phantom' measurements given the software used.

Use RyzenMaster or even HWInfo64, and I doubt you'd truly see 4.5GHz.

I'm still seeing 1.475V? Which, similarly, is on the high side.

That being said, HWMonitor will still give you the occassional outright 'false' reading ..... which does make me question it's validity full stop.

I stopped using HWMonitor in favor of HWInfo &/or RyzenMaster when I had my Ryzen 2700X.
From time to time, if I left HWM open long enough at idle, it would tell me some cores were boosting to ~5.2GHz, which just wasn't true, no matter how briefly it claimed it happened.
