[SOLVED] Defective HDD?

Hey guys, I got a Seagate Exos 16TB Enterprise HDD from Newegg but with it installed, my PC will not go past the initial screen where it asks to "Hit DEL or F2 to enter BIOS". Normally waiting here for a few seconds without going into BIOS will just start Windows but it's just stuck there. Also hitting DEL or F2 does not do anything.
There is also this kind of low repeating beeping noise coming from it. I switched out the SATA power cable with another one that was powering my Samsung EVOs and same results.
One other thing is that the debug Q-Code on my mobo shows "64" which according to the Q-code table 63 - 67 all means "CPU DXE initialization is started". Not sure what that means.

Asus X570 Crosshair dark hero
Ryzen 7 5800X
Seagate Firecuda 520 NVME 1TB (OS)
Seagate Firecuda 520 NVME 2TB
2x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB (raid0)
Asus rog strix RTX 3090
Seasonic Prime TX-1000


Seems defective to me? Should I RMA it?

Probably bit by the Sata3.3 spec that leaves the HDD stuck in reset mode. If you have a power extension cable you can cut the orange 3.3v wire(s) on it otherwise you can try taping over the matching pads on the hdd's connector.

Would it be better to just RMA it? I certainly wouldn't want to cut any wires and taping over stuff just seems like I'm fixing something that I shouldn't need to.

RMA? no you'd get it back as No Trouble Found. It's doing what it's designed to do. It's your PC's wiring that isn't up to snuff. The 3.3v lines on the Sata power connector have been repurposed as a Reset line drives could be reset remotely without needing to cycle the whole server.

Return the drive for a refund or go get/order a power extension cable and Either cut the orange wire or get one that doesn't have it. to begin with.

I did try a Molex to SATA adapter that came with my PSU. I read from somewhere that this works and wanted to try that before spending extra purchasing what you suggested. The Molex/SATA adapter produced the same results.
I wonder if the extensions you posted would help?

The 4 pin/wire molex adapter would not have 3.3v; molex only has 12v, 5v, & grounds (yellow, red, & black wires) so if that did not work then the drive really is defective.

I've ordered one of these. It will come without the 3.3v. So will try this extension and if it doesn't work then I'll know for sure it's defective.

Extension arrived and tried it. Same results. Will be returning it. Thanks for all the help!
