Hello,

I was putting my door back on my case today, and and knocked off a SATA cable to one of my mirrored drives. My system kept running, and told me a drive came unplugged. I plugged it back in and nothing changed, so i rebooted my PC thinking it would go back to normal.

Now both drives on my mirror is saying degraded, but my OS is installed on my SSD, so i feel like i should be able to boot.

I have:

  • 1 x SSD <-- OS installed on <-- healthy
    2 x 2TB HDD Western Digital Reds <-- mirrored <-- degraded
    2 x older 300GB HDD <-- Stripped <-- healthy

Help, what should i do?

You will have to go into your RAID controller and tell it to rebuild the RAID from the "healthy" HDD, make sure you tell it to rebuild from the right one or you might end up losing some data. Might be good to backup the data just in case.

If the raid was connected when you installed windows the the ssd then it probably wrote some boot files to the raid.
When you get the array repaired run easybcd to move the stuff to the ssd.

Another option would be to boot from a the repair disk (make one if you havent - they come in handy) while the raid drives are disconnected and then run startup repair until it can fix the issue (takes 3 or 4 tries sometimes)
