Deleted a .bsp file type from hkey_classes_root by mistake

I deleted one of the whole entires for a file type by mistake.

Is there a way to bring it back and will it cause damage?

If you right click on the file type, open with, and then get it to 'always open with' you can create the association again. That might fix it. Alternatively restore your registry from a backup.

.bsp file type is usually associated with certain games such as Quake and other games which use the Quake engine.

Re-installing the related game should restore the registry key & sub-keys.

Do you have a copy of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bsp in your registry?
