Question Deleted files...but space not freed up...

So I was deleted some files that should have freed up a total of 30 gb but...well, a few windows came up that I just kind of clicked through, and now, though the files are gone from my computer, the storage is still not freed up. I have no idea why this happened. If it matters, these were files for steam games. Any and all help is appreciated.

check the recycle bin?
where did you check that is is not freed up?
use windirstat to see what is using disk space
