Deleting my 1tb Weston Digital brand external hard drive

Hello,
I've got aa small prob... how do I delete/erase the contents on my Weston Digital external hard drive. ATM it's coping 5 copies only the hard drive alone and also its backing up time machine by Apple... what should I do after deleting it and starting from scratch. Just stay with TimeMachine or back every single thing on my mac. prpb is I have a 1tb hard drive in my iMac but have only about 20% of my 1tbb external hard drive (back up drive). If it was just Time Machine it would be fine, but it also backups your entire computer.... arrrrr please help

Thank you, thats exactly what I did. I'm now just backing up using Time Machine, which backs up my iMac, so I don't really know why WD backed up all my contents 5 times over, leaving my external hard drive nearly full. Now I have 3/4 of backup left, compared to having only 150gig.
