Delford Abbey

Am I the only one finding this mission incredibly difficult? I mean, the
whole of the ground floor of the abbey is tiled and you have pretty much no
equipment! I managed to do that eventually (though not very stealthily) and
am now down in the crypt but with nothing like holy water to defeat the
hordes of evil dead, I am simply unable to avoid getting caught. Oh, and it
keeps crashing.

Unfortunately, the crashing bug is still there in version 2--if you pick
up any of the Hammerite priests, your computer will immediately lock up
and some people report crashes linked to entering various areas of the
abbey, most notably the barracks or catacombs. There's been some
discussion of this over at the TTLG forums but no solution yet. After
numerous reboots I simply didn't touch any of the priests after
blackjacking them and managed to get somewhat near to the end of the
level, which apparently has a fatal flaw which prevents you from
achieving one of the key objectives.

All in all a nice mission--I really liked the atmosphere and enjoyed
playing through the level, but it just needs a bit more troubleshooting
from the author to give it that final polish.

As for the noisy floors...

<SPOILER BELOW!>

Pick up as many moss arrows from the bushes surrounding the abbey as you
can. There are two windows on the abbey through which you can enter (via
jumping and mantling) from the outside into the sanctuary, but it's a
one-way deal--you can't leave by them! Cast some moss about and wait in
the shadows until you can make your way to the doors. In the next room,
which is quite brightly lit, you'll find something that'll make your
taffing about quite a bit easier!

I decided not to play it at all, at least until EVERY SINGLE PLAYER wasn't
saying how it was crashing constantly. I'm fairly tired of FM authors who
don't test their missions. :)

Hit "send" before I could comment on the catacombs...

<MORE SPOILER MATERIAL BELOW!>

There's a magic sword along with a cache of water arrows and, I believe,
holy water in a hidden compartment in the catacombs. The lever to open
the door is cleverly disguised. Just frob anything you see on the walls
such as, ahem, sconces, and you should find some very useful tools.

Not that I am defending the author, but supposedly, none of the beta
testers experienced the crashing that we are seeing in Ver. 1 and Ver. 2.

<Secret Squirrel>
Maybe they did but refused to share the information
since it's a fiendish plot to force us to play TDS.

Version 2.5 is out now. Don't know if the problem
is fixed or what.

The crashing problem is fixed. A minor problem is that when you finish
the first 5 objectives, the game ends. No getting all the loot or
getting back to where you started from.
