Question Delid 4790 k question

I have a 4790k that I plan to delid. Once I take off the heat spreader there are rows of conductors (sorry I don;t know what they are called) on the side. Do you apply anything to those? You don't have to apply on them, what you see in those pictures is thermal paste that got pushed out from the sides due to pressure from the lid placed on it, and if you are going to use liquid metal then don't let it go in contact with those transistors(the conductors).
