DisplayPort is actually a broader standard that has more bandwidth than HDMI (depending on comparing version). If you do have a DisplayPort on your computer, it's actually worth getting. No, you probably won't see the difference, but it is a more capable port. You certainly will see it if you use Freesync or G-Sync.
