I just purchased the Dell 2407WFP-HC for $570 (sale is still going on at dell.com) last week. The monitor arrived last Thursday and I watched quite a few movies this weekend. In short, this monitor looks BEAUTIFUL. Here are a few things I want to note:

I have a x300se graphics card meaning that I cannot pump up the graphics on my games. I played Half-life 2 briefly at 1024x768 and it looked better than on my old 15" Sony LCD. I mention this because I feared that such a large monitor would make a low resolution look bad, but this is not the case.

I watched 3-4 DVDs this weekend (Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator...) and each looked amazing. The colors really catch my eye and I cannot wait to see what HD DVDs or Blurays look like on this monitor. I will be getting hi def cable in a couple weeks, and can comment more on that then.

I can't seem to get 1:1 pixel mapping to work yet (I will be calling Dell this week). I found the menu option but it is greyed out.

I figured out how to us the Picture in Picture which is a great feature, especially with the numerous inputs this monitor has.

Finally, one negative. I have found that the monitor gets quite warm to the touch when I use it for a while.

I just wanted to post this in case anyone was consideing this or any other 24 monitors. If you have any questions, or want me to check out more features of the monitor let me know.

Probably the only way to get 1:1 pixel mapping is to upgrade the firmware.

The firmware on an LCD monitor cannot be upgraded by the user. You must either send it back to Dell for them to flash it and that's a big if. Or buy a newer revision and sell your current Dell.

It's not very surprising that it gets warm 'cause it is rated at 110w.

It's greyed out until you give it something that might require pixel mapping. In other words, start a game, then go to the menu. The options for 1:1, aspect, and stretch are no longer greyed out.

Playing around with the monitor the last few days, I did figure this out. With the DVI connection from the computer it is greyed out, but the composite connection from my ps2 allows me to choose between those options (i.e. the options are not greyed out).

I just bought one and it came in today. Its amazing. 1:1 Pixel Mapping works great on Xbox 360. I cant believe I didnt get this sooner.
