Hi!!!

IS a Dell mobo available for purchase. From Dell? Aftermarket?
Generic?

Just thinking about the end of my warranty...would ANY mobo work AND,
ALSO be compatible with DELL OEM WIN XP?

Just thinking to the future when my warranty expires.

Dell motherboards are proprietary to Dell.

Dell 2400 motherboards use standard ATX & P4 power connectors. They are
standard microATX in size and use standard mATX screw mounting holes. The
connector to the front panel is a little bit funky, but the pins are standard in
size. (Earlier Dell mobos used a front panel connector with teeny-tiny pins.)
They appear to conform to one of the 845-series board designs from Intel, but
they are not manufactured by Intel.

You can find aftermarket Dell mobos on eBay. If Dell would sell you one as a
spare part, you would probably pay thru the nose for it. Another mobo would
work in the Dell chassis, but you would probably have to tinker with the front
panel connector which has the on-off switch, power light, and hard disk light as
a single assembly. AFAIK, the Dell OEM Win XP Home would work with another
mobo, but you might have to install drivers not on the Win XP Home CD, depending
on your choice of replacement mobo... Ben Myers

The 2400 can also take a 4600 board easily. BOth systems are made for Dell
by the same company.
