Hi, I'm trying to use the resolution 1920x1080 on my 2405fpw, but having a problem; In 1920x1200, the native resolution, everything is perfect, however when i use 1920x1080, the monitor doesn't even show the entire horizontal portion of the screen. It would be fine if there were just black bars cutting out the extra 120 vertical areas either side of the display, but even if i enable that in the monitor's settings, the horizontal portion still doesn't completely show;

tl;dr 1920x1080 on 2405fpw doesn't actually give me 1920x1080, it's more like 1850x1080 or something.

Any clues?

Mauvecloud, this sounds like it could be exactly it, I'm using a VGA to DVI adapter though. hang-the-9, although yes, the native resolution looks better, not everything should run at that resolution, nor can or DOES everything. There are several applications that ten to top out at around 1920x1080. Thus, 1920x1200 is just too big.

No, hang-the-9, you don't seem to understand. Some applications run only at certain resolutions, where as others may only be able to parse from a certain set of specific resolutions. My native resolution is not compatible with either of the two scenarios with various applications i use. There is no adjusting, applications run (if fullscreen) at a certain resolution;

ath0, when using such an adapter, I'm not sure your video driver will show scaling options, but if it does, you could try that. Also, I have to agree with hang-the-9 and wonder what programs you have that stop at 1920x1080 - I've seen plenty of games that just run at 800x600 or 1024x768, but if a program supports 1920x1080, it should also support higher resolutions as long as the computer knows the monitor can support it.
