Hi,

I'm in the market for a new monitor (currently have viewsonic VX922 19") and was looking at the 24" Dell 2407WFP-HC which i see is getting good reviews.

What I really would like to know though....

1.) Is there anything better out there for the money? Would like to know peoples opinions and why they would choose something else over this.

2.) What do you guys that have bought this monitor think of it?

I mostly play games and Web browsing, I will be rarely (if at all!) watching movies on it.

I've also heard that the Planar PX2611W is very good too but i cant seem to find a UK price on it. Maybe they haven't released it in the UK yet??!!

Appreciate any advice and/or thoughts you guys can give me! :)

I've reading up on a lot of forums about this monitor and there's 1 thing people always come back to and thats the ghosting problem this monitor has. Just looking at the Dell Forums there are over 600 post of people having problems due to the black ghosting found on the HC A00 model of this monitor.

Considering the amount of dissatisfied people who have bought this monitor i'm really tempted to go elsewhere and forget about this one. Maybe go for the Samsung 245b??!!

prodystopian, Do you notice any ghosting at all?

I don't think Planar has a presence in Europe anymore. Even their European website no longer exist. Therefore, you are out of luck.

The closest thing to the Planar PX2611w is the NEC LCD2690WUXi. It uses the same H-IPS panel made by LG/Philips, but it has extra electronics for color accuracy and uniformity. It's geared more for the graphic professionals than the average user. The average price is about £850 - £950 in the UK, but I did find a place selling it for £789 in your neck of the woods.

NEC LCD2690WXUi @ Pixmania (UK)

I ordered this monitor for myself (there was a recent $400+ price drop), unfortunately the shipping company, FedEX, "lost" the package somewhere in their warehouse depot. They've been looking for it for 4 days! I'm on the verge of calling the vendor and submit a "lost package" claim so that the charge will be reversed on my credit card.

I haven't noticed ghosting, but I have heard that ghosting is something that you either see or you don't. If you are sensitive to it, you may see it, but I haven't.
