Question Dell 4K Monitor does not work on my HP laptop ?

Just bought a Dell 4K monitor, but it looks like it's not going to work with my HP Pavilion laptop. I first tried to connect it over HDMI, but it can only support 4K resolution at 30Hz, which is not suitable for my needs (not gaming, just a regular web development). Then, I attempted to connect it using the USB-C (which works fine with my Macbook), but it doesn't seem to output any picture; I only see a blank screen. My laptop is an HP running Windows 10, and it should support image output over USB Type C, according to the specifications.

So what am I doing wrong?

I truly hope you don't think you are going to get 4K over USB Type C?

The specs:
External ports
1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI 1.4; 1 RJ-45; 1 headphone/microphone combo

It supports DisplayPort 1.2 but I can guarantee it's not the recommended solution for 4K.
