Dell 635W PSU has 8 pin PCIE . I need 8 + 6 pin PCIE. Can I use this splitter

I have a Dell machine with 635W PSU (Datasheet: https://plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/DELL_D635EF-00_ECOS%202543_635W_Report.pdf). It has got an 8 pin PCIE splot. I have a Titan X GPU which needs 8+6 pin PCIE power inputs. I found this splitter on Amazon: http://www.amazon.in/PCI-Express-Video-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Supply/dp/B00A3OVG4W Can I use this to put into the 2 GPU PCIE slots without any problems?

Check the label on the side of the psu, look at where it says 12v and how many amps.

You need at least 40amps on the 12v rail in my opinion.

Sorry for being such a PSU dummy, but do we need a PSU which has >40A on a single 12V Output? Or the aggregate number at 100% load as mentioned at: https://plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/DELL_D635EF-00_ECOS%202543_635W_Report.pdf ?

Im not exactly familiar with that PSU, but ideally you want all the 12v amps on one rail, as you are going to be drawing a lot of ampage from one connection.

you're looking for a PSU with a rating [+12V 40A] or higher on a the 12V rail

And we've all Dell PCs with Dell having it's propreitary PSUs so, not much hope of digging/ modification in there.

If you're stuck with only being able to choose from Dell PSUs because of compatibility, then you might be stuck. I'm not 100% sure on that though
