Dell 7020 with 4790k cpu

Hi guys this is Ebrahim AlQattan from Bahrain.

Actually I started ordering 4 dell pcs with 3.4ghz from ebay with optiplex 990 790 motherboard i kept all the motherboards in deep cool case sended up with like 11 fans 12 in each case set.
Two dell oem cpu+motherborad fans
Two in the front of the case, two at the top with Captain cpu cooler 240ex, 32GB ram from Atech on ebay, 120gb hp and kingstone ssd from ebay.
One of the fan on the top of power supply two for the ssd drives, one on the rear. to take the heat out, used Arcatic Silver thermal Paste, then I wanted to make them faster so changed the motherboard to dell 7010 and it worked fine and it was. Amazing with Street Fighter V arcade edition this is the only game installed with windows 7 home edition 64 bit

Now the problem I've ordered 5th pc which has 3.6 Ghz from ebay dell from 7020,and then ordered 4 motherboards 9020 ssf and power supply cable from ebay but this wasn't able to let my pc power on.

I HAVE THE FOLLOWING GRAPHIC CARDS
NVIDIA 1080TI
NVIDIA 1080
NVIDIA 1050TI
NVIDIA 1050TI
NVIDIA 1050 WITH MY 5TH PC

I BOUGHT LIKE 450W 550W.650W AND THEN 1050W FROM EBAY.

I EVEN USED THE OEM POWER SUPPLY THIS WAS GIVING ME ORANGE AMBER COLOR FLASHING AND DISCONNECT THE POWER FROM WALL REMOVED EVERYTHING KEPT DOING THAT MORE THAN 100 TIMES KEPT MY HAND ON POWER BOTTON FOR LIKE 10 SEC AND TWO FAST CLICK SO IT RESETS BUT IT REMAINS THE SAME.

I ORDERED THE POWER SUPPLY CABLE FROM EBAY AND OTHER TWO KINDs even from Moddiy.com for 9020 not sure if this would help my pc to work with power supply.

Ordered 4 4.0 ghz from i7-4790k to work with my 9020 motherboard. What mistake I've done so this doesn't power on I didn't even see the bios, even disconnect the nvidia graphic card and done the test for green botton one by one and everything was fine the light was. Coming on after each step of installing each cable

So please what I'm missing?
Please help me out.
Please tell me if you didn't understand my speach since English is my 2nd language please let me know if you want me to exlain in otherway I'll do my best.

If I understand you correctly, you've purchased Dell mother boards and put them in a Deep Cool aftermarket case. Dell doesn't follow ATX standards all the time. The biggest difference is usually the front I/O cables and circuit board. They have added features, some of which will keep the computer from running. A temperature sensor is one of those. There is also usually a 4 LED diagnostic display. It's usually best to use Dells as complete Dell computers. Even swapping parts among Dells is risky. They don't publish the pinouts on these cables and boards either. The diagnostic display would tell you what's not working. But if it's been eliminated that won't help.

Dell products are compatible for custom builds as most people would assume.

Well I'm using the oem front panel from dell and oem tempreture sensor and the power switch is oem too.

The only sensors which I'm not using is the case lock unlock and this doesn't prevent the pc from powering on. And the build in speakers as well.

Even the cpu and motherboard fans front panel and tempreture switch they will only give you a hint that this isn't working I'm sure because this happened to me several times with 990 790 and 7010, not sure if this would effect on 7020 or 9020 motherboards, especially those doesn't supply tempreture switch for the 9020ssf.

I think with oem power botton rams power supply two cables 4 pin and 24 or 4 pin and 8 pin, motherboard and cpu it will be able to run into the bios at least if everything is fine.

You could probably try something similar to a test -bench setup that consist of no case and have hardware out in Open.

but if I use the cpu motherboard rams start botton and ssd, it suppose to start and goes to windows right?
What if i got orange light flashing from power switch?

Is there anything I should change in the jumpers for dell motherboard or using new motherboard with used cpu 4790k I might try the 3.6 ghz instead of 4.0?

You should go to the online Dell manual for the MB you're using and see what the 4 diagnostic LEDs are telling you. The orange light usually means it's failed the POST (Power ON Self Test) This could be RAM, PSU, or CPU issues. You could try creatingg a Linux Live DVD and boot w/o any HDD connected. This will eliminate any software, or HDD issues. Some of the Dell fans are quite a bit different than aftermarket. Higher power, and sometimes different pinouts, although not so much with ATX form. Maybe the BIOS doesn't recognize the fan you're running.

Well thanks for the advice I'm using dell oem fans for the motherboard and cpu, i keep both at the top. of the. graphic card so it pulls the heat up to the rear case fan this will really help the graphic card, the other fans are all connected with 4 pin to the power supply.

The power supply unit is okay if you get the green power plus when I push that botton both fans works which means everything is fine with my connection so far.

maybe the motherboard doesn't recognize the cpu, this is why i wanted to use the 3.6 instead of 4.0, well I have 4.0 Ghz and one 3.6 Ghz, one 3.5 Ghz and 4 3.4 Ghz one 3.3 Ghz all of them are i7 except the 3.3 is i5.

the 4.0 are 4 generation even the 3.6 ghz for 1150 lga can't be used with 3.4 or 3.5 because those are for 1151 lga.

actually I like to keep testing and opening closing my pc everynight ordering motherboards from ebay I've damaged so far maybe more than 4 motherboards because I was brushing the cpu channel using tooth brush, didn't know this channel must not be touched so I learned on the hard way and paid alot and I don't want to damage my new motherboards and cpu so I want to do it clean and easy without damaging anything, I might sound stupid but this is my hobby I have no intrest in anything except pcs, playing only one game which is street fighter v arcade, i do test everything everyday I hope I can solve the problem out once I reach home back to my country in Bahrain with your advice after solving this out will sell the other motherboards with cpu which are 4 of 3.4 one of 3.3.
will keep the 4 of 4.0 and one of 3.6.

Please any advice is welcome.

well thanks god I was able to solve the problem out and running 3 pcs with 7020 and 4790k cpu.

the problem was of the motherboard cpu channel fins I must bent some by mistake.

I did that with my Dell 990 for three motherboards and now two 7020, none with 7010.

I discovered that when using oem power supply with dell power switch cpu motherboard i left it with no rams and there was no beep this mean cpu or motherboard problem changed the motherboard and it worked thanks god got another two from ebay at the same day and they all working fine.

had some issue with deep cooler master and captain ex240 cooler both removed the thermal paste and put a new silver from Arcatic and the idle cpu got between 38c to 57c under stress this is with dell diagnose from bios test.

I have to change my dell oem cpu and motherboard fan because it can't pass the test with dell 990 790 7010 it shows the fan isn't responding correcly i have only one set worked with no issue.

I was amazed from the speed of cpu when using 3.4 and now 4.0. I was able to use my hori fighting commander pc version with usb 3.0 and it was hard to keep the driver i had to run it from safe mod then normal mod.

Everything back to normal tested the street fighter v and there is a diffetence, maybe because I payed alot of money so I say that but the truth it like my response became alot faster in hitting blocking fighting back with same ram only cpu and motherboard changed.

the sound for the headphone became great.

now waiting for asus maximus to let it work with 4790k and see the difference compaired to dell motherboard.

The cable I got from Moddiy.com for 8 pin to 24 pin worked with my 1050w power supply, i lost in 6 cables got them from ebay I think there must be one wire is different at the end I wanted to share that with you.
