This is a good quality printer but recently I had to refill the cartridges and
re-install them...now I get no color at all and the black worked briefly but no
has conked out as well. I have re-filled the cartridges one time before and
all was fine. I have run the cleaning procedure with absolutely no success.
Anyone know what might be the problem and how I might fix it? Thanks.
I have the same printer and had similiar problems. First have you went through the whole "Install A New Cartridge" process with The Dell Printer Solutions Software that came with the printer? Mine wouldn't recognize my new cartridge once until I did that. Second, I noticed that the color quit working so I opened it up and the clip that holds the cartridge in had broken therefore the cartridge wasn't fully in place. So I did a little Jerry Riggin, because I'm a cheap skate, and used tape to get the cartride in nice and snug. So you might check the cartridge and see if something similiar is going on. I would also check the print heads, make sure they are free of and dried ink or trash. I usually do this by getting a dry cloth and dabbing it with a little alchohol and rubbing the heads until they are free of any left over residue. I also do the same procedure on the printer cartridges themselves'. On the printer cartridges, where the ink actually comes out, your always gonna get a little ink on the cloth so I wouldn't waste awhole lot of time cleaning the cartridges" themselves, but I would go over the contacts on them several times. If worst comes to worst contact Dell Support as I'm sure you and I aren't the only two people on the planet that have had these types' of problems with this printer.Their support phone number is:

This procedures' I've went through have worked well for me in the past so hopefully you'll have the same luck. Best of luck to you, let me know how it turns out. I'm not on this forum much so EMail me the results at my AOL which is: RchJe3@aol.com
