Question Dell Alienware with an RTX 3080 ---- the 3080 shows in Device Manager but not in Afterburner ?

Hi, sorry I am pretty new to the forum. The GPU (3080) can be detected in device manager but not shown in afterburner, and has unknown memory type, bus width etc. It also shows 0 Mb memory size and 0 for memory clock and gpu clock. I have tried using DDU. A 3080 is pretty hard to come by these days and any help is very appreciated!

Update: When i put in the 3080 into a rig with 3 GPUs the whole thing jsut give me back screen. I have tried flahsed the vbios and still doesnt work.

I dont have the whole system. The 3080 is a second hand GPU I bought. I was trying it on my system and it did not work

Return the GPU and get your money back if it was advertised as a working gpu.

I dont think I can.. I got it from Kjiji. There is really no way to fix this?

Was it advertised as working? If yes, get your money back because it's not.
If it was advertised as faulty, then you shouldn't have bought it.

Since GPUs are highly sought after, I highly doubt that this could be fixed and the seller didn't try, so it's either not fixable or VERY expensive to do it.

Good news, it really is a Dell 3080. Bad news, it's got power delivery issues. It's running pcie x16 1.1, so the majority of the card isn't powered. Which is why it's not showing half the stats like clocks and memory.

test the rtx 3080 by itself on your working system.
dell brand gpu usually are special made

Good news, it really is a Dell 3080. Bad news, it's got power delivery issues. It's running pcie x16 1.1, so the majority of the card isn't powered. Which is why it's not showing half the stats like clocks and memory.

Thank you for all your replies. I was testing it on my working system with only the 3080 plugged in. It was also sitting directly on the PCIE X16 slot. I did not use a riser or anything. Anyway to fix the power delivery issue? Thank you guys so much!

So did you have all the PCIe power connectors from the power supply connected to it? There should be two 8-pin connectors according to Alienware forums...
