oooo ow, that hurts amd, what ablow that Dell claims they cant produce enough chips to cover ALL thier desktops. wow what a revalation lol.
one thing you missed was that dell would be more interested in thier server chips and high end desktop parts for gaming. and yet i only see you spin it to make it look negatively for amd lol. heck the fact that dell would consider amd at all is a positive, lets just leave at that, how about it?
i mean i realize you dont work for amd and you dont 'root' for them, but i dont see any negatives here. but as im sure youve seen in my other psots, im nto nearly as giddy about dlel adopting amd as others. i frankly dont care, and i think amd cares little. im sure they have tried for years to get dell to support them, i wouldnt even waste time trying, let dell come to them if they are interested and can pull away from intel long enough lol.
if dell picks up amd server parts and desktop parts, that will be nice, but amd doesnt need to bend over backwards to earn it, they dont have to have dell to survive. heck, intel has more to loose then amd really has to gain at this point. dell adopting amd at all would send a very uncomfortable signal to intel. if intel at some point were to loose more significant share of dell pcs to amd, it would eat seriously into thier profit. at this point, amd can only go up, and on the reverse, intel can only go down when it comes to dell.
this whole volume production woes for amd is pretty overblown if you ask me. amd sells what it makes, what company could ask for more? in fact they have been so succesful that they can afford to expand capacity and gain third party founries for production. even if amd couldnt provide every single cpu to dell, it certainly wont be long before they could. now by that i mean by 2006 at the latest.
