iMacs start with a Sandy Bridge i5 quadcore, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, and dedicated graphics (Radeon 6490M). What part of that is comparable to a PC all-in-one with integrated Intel graphics and a dual-core Sandy Bridge i3? I'm not saying an iMac is a good value, but don't compare this to an iMac if it's really not that similar.

AIOs are a fail in general, because they don't offer either the portability of a laptop or the upgradeability of a desktop, but THIS is even more ridiculous. Is this how Michael Dell wanted Dell to enter the new stage in PC development? (Remember an interview with him a while back?) This might work for you, and I'd rather see these POSs succeeding rather than tablets, but it's still a total fail compared to traditional laptops/desktops.

That said, did you notice a touch screen mentioned? That's right; Dell, just like Asus last week, is preparing for Windows 8 and Metro - sure, it can be switched off, but I predict forcing Metro on new users together with these outrageous POSs. This will be fun to watch.

Dell does not offer processor, storage, or graphics upgrades to avoid inventory mess.

Lol, so you're basically offering me an oversized i3-based laptop. No thank you, I'd rather build a little Mini-ITX box with integrated Wi-Fi for my family... will be cheaper, easier to maintain and just in general more satisfactory. Get a wireless mouse+keyboard there and we're done. Every family needs someone who can restrain them non tech-savvy folks from buying hyped up BS :lol:

Yea that'll be great for anyone that isn't a gamer, nor needs to do any video editing or graphic designers that use Adobe's tools.

I use Virtual DJ with VirtualTouch interface on my 10" tablet - which tends to be both fun and frustrating at the same time. It's fun because of the convenience of a (highly) portable tablet and its touch capabilities, but it's also frustrating due to the lack of space (1280x800) and tactile feedback.

For such a specialized application, a bigger surface area and compactness may be welcome, but I'm sure I could find cheaper means to satisfy those needs. There are plenty of 21-23" Touch capable displays out there and pricing on those has lately become down-right acceptable.

Just my 2-cents.

Hmm how come dell Australia offers a maxed out Vostro 360 with i5 2400s, 4GB RAM, 1TB storage and Nvidia 525M at $1349. Very similar to iMac with same spec but 6750M offer here at starting at $1400. Although Apple does offer more overpriced upgrade option.

Vostro is the Small Business line of PCs/Laptops, as the article states. For the price it is extremely attractive as a business use PC. The fact that Tom's readers are mostly gaming enthusiasts means trashing like this is inevitable, but I don't believe anyone here is saying this is the way of the future for gaming PCs.

As for portability, how portable would a 23" touchscreen Laptop be? The point is that it is space-saving, wire saving, and less clutter. I don't care much about any of that for my home PC, but the attorneys at my job would love to use these instead of the Optiplex 390s and 790s that we currently buy for them.
