We have a Dell C610 with XP/Pro and several other apps.
I just purchased a 2nd C610 on eBay with XP/Pro & Office 2003.

Would it be possible to image the disk from the first,
and restore it to the new/2nd Dell C610.
I'd hate to have to actually re-install and configure
every piece of software on the 2nd Dell.

BUT - if we just re-image the new machine,
what about Windows Update and other updating software....

well I can tell you that if you have a copy of xp just stick it in
and it will install most of the drivers. the sound and video you can get
from the
dell site.
It may even install them.

You do NOT need an identical hard drive to image, I know that for a
fact, and I don't think you need the same CPU, because I've turned off
an XP computer, replaced the CPU, and it started back up. I do think
the motherboard has to be the same, tho.
