Dell Cpi--booting from internal Zip

Hi everyone!
First of all, excuse me for my poor English.I'll try to do my best to
explain my problem.
I recently bought an used Dell Cpi D266XT and upgraded CPU and RAM to
400Mhz/128Mb(The BIOS was upgraded to A11 ver. by the previous
owner).Because of some sort of strange hardware CD/R configuration ,I'm
not able to install my Debian Gnu/Linux on it(actually I work with a
Slackware 10.0),so I bought an internal removable Zip unit in order to
use it as a floppy drive,booting from it and then proceeding with
installation from network.Now the question is: is it possible to boot
from Zip or I've spent my money buying something useless?
I mean,really the Zip can be useful to me,but if it doesn't boot then my
problem is not solved.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Go here and read the Tech notes about boot sequence.
In theory if the zip drive is in the floppy slot it should work.

Tried just now.The zip has arrived from Ebay this afternoon.It Doesn't
boot...:-( tried with a DOS ZIP.
Strange thing,anyway

If the Zip is in the media bay where you would normally have the CD rom
drive, then if you hit F12 at the Dell splash screen youshould be able to
choose it from the menu or see if you have an option in the BIOS F" at the
splash screen.
There is also a version of Linux that boots from a CD rom as well

Tried.There is no possibility to do so.
However I solved my problem.Now I'm installing Ubuntu from CD.It was a
Debian bug which didn't allow me to install a complete Debian based
Linux on my laptop.The only distribution working was Slackware(really I
love it,but I prefer Ubuntu for its update system)
