Dell E521 processor upgrade..

I have a dell E521 I purchased on 3\07, that came with: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+ (I think it's 2.0GHz)

After searching and reading posts here, most are old though, I think New Egg has an upgrade that will work: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5400 Wolfdale 2.7GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor

I just want to verify with someone if this is correct. If not can someone point me in the right direction.

My OS is windows 7
4gig of ram
ATI 4300 video card.
Main reason for upgrade: I do a lot of Photoshop work and I'm hoping a processor upgrade will help. Heck for $70, to me, it's worth a try.

You can not put an Intel Processor in a board for an AMD it wont work.

I think this would be the fastest you could put in that board.

AMD 64 x2 6000+

I do know it will work for sure you just have to update the bios and you will be good.

can't believe I missed that. Does anyone know which one would, AMD that is? I searched the posts and the ones mentioned are all out of stock, or I assume no longer sold.

AMD 64 x2 6000+ will work for sure and is the best you can put in that board.

so iw ould have a few choices?

Also, I am 32bit, does this matter w\processor if it says 64bit ready?

That just means you could go to a 64bit OS if you wanted. If you are useing under 4GB of RAM 32bit OS is all you need.
