What did Dell do with the all the old i7 computers? Only answer I got from chat was that they were at their "end of life". Looking for inexpensive Dell (compared to newer i8s) with Dell warranty, but they are not sold on the Dell websites anymore, not even in the outlet store. Wanted one from a reputable source. Wonder if a new i8 system is just a new old stock i7 with the processor replaced?

What do you mean "old i7"? Either they sell them all and run out, or they liquidate old stock to wholesalers etc to clear out inventory for newer products.

I'm assuming you mean i9, as there's no such thing as an i8?

There are plenty of resellers of those computer. but they will all be used.
Here's one.

If you need an older cheap computer that's easy to upgrade and make into a fairly potent machine the Dell T3500 workstation is popular.
Dell builds and sells new computers. I7 started right after LGA775 which is way over 10 years ago. This is like asking why your local Ford dealer doesn't have new 1965 Mustangs with factory warranty.

Dell Outlet, just now:

Looks like an i7 to me...
