Are these LCD's reliable and worth the purchase. I'm looking at getting the 2005FP or 2005FPW. Any comments and or suggestions as to a better monitor would greatly be appreciated.

The 2005fpw is a great monitor, especially if you can get one of those amazing $350 deals. The 2405fpw though is in a different league and if you have $900 to spend don't think twice.

I'm not sure what your timeframe for buying one of these things is, but the reason Dell is having so many sales on their LCD's is they're trying to get rid of the old models before they announce the upcoming 2407FPW.
The 2407FPW is rumored to have 8ms response time and an HDCP connector among other improvements, so if you want, hold off and see if it will be better.
My problem with Dells is they are rather bright to achieve their high contrast ratios, but then again I'd use it more for programming than gaming or movies so whites need to be lower intesity.

And if you go with the 2405 or 2407, be sure to get a Dual-DVI cable. The supplied DVI cable is not great for pumping our 1920x1200. A Dual-DVI cable has enough bandwidth to run the 1920x1200 with no problems. I don't know why Dell does not include one with the monitor, since it is needed for a resolution that high.

From what I understand, Vista is going to complicate things by not outputting HD content to a non-HDCP capable monitor. Not sure what the real impact will be, but we'll see.

The reason I bring this up is because Costco now offers the 2405fpw online for $800 something and with their warranty that is an awesome deal.

The best deals so far have been for $740 and $780 (not sure if that's plus tax and shipping), but Costco has a lifetime warranty so you could just buy the 2405fpw now and then when Vista comes out return it and get a HDCP compliant monitor.
