Greetings,

I have a Dell G15 5530 with the following specs:

CPU- Intel Core i7 13650HX @ 2.60GHz
GPU- Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 6GB GDDR6
Storage- 512GB SSD
RAM- 16GB DDR5 @4800MHz
Display- 1920x1080 @165Hz

I bought it brand new and 3 days in, its CPU's idle temperatures were 60+. The GPU however is pretty fine with temperatures between 40 to 50. I removed any plastic packaging that covered the fans. I searched about this laptop on the internet and have never found (or rarely found) other laptops with similar specs to this. In addition, I never found a proper explanation. I updated all the drivers, BIOS, OS, and installed Dell support apps and yet it's about the same temperatures. It initially went more than 70 and almost hit 80 on basic tasks like browsing. CPU utilization on idle is at about a minimum of 3% and at such, the CPU's average idle temperature was 67. However, it did decrease from 67 to about 60 when I disabled intel's speed step and all its the turbo boost technologies. However, I am still not happy with such temperatures especially while on idle. By the way, I benchmarked the laptop's processor and without intel speed step and turbo boost, it reached a maximum temperature of 85 while with them turned on, it hit 92. Thus, I am in awe to know what is the cause for it being at 60+ degrees without any load.

Thank you,

Infinite Sciences

there should be fan control
For some reason, I am not able to control the speed of both GPU and CPU fans. I tried to do it with MSI afterburner, Speed Fan, Nvidia Inspector, and now with Dell Power Manager. Fan control is disabled I reckon. In addition, I think there's a glitch in the app where when I set the mode to high performance, the fans become really quiet, and the temperature of the CPU decreases from 62 degrees to 57 for about roughly 20 minutes. It then increases after that. As for the quiet mode, the fans are still kind of quiet, but the temperatures of the CPU remain the same (and sometimes even increase). This issue was there when the mode was set to optimized (which I hadn't changed and was the default). As I previously told, the laptop is just 4 days old meaning that there's almost no chance for dust to clog up its fans. By the way, I usually keep the laptop lifted on a flat surface. I do have few more questions to be asked which I will do so once I find a solution to this. Thank you.

high performance should set the fan on high.
sound like issue with the laptop. contact dell
Oh okay. However, is it not a software bug as I've read multiple forums in which users are facing the same issue and many blame the software? Also, I am somehow happy with how well the computer handles heavy tasks like benchmarking, gaming, video editing, and many more. The temperatures barely reach 80. It is surprising for me to see how it does not go beyond 80 on full load but stays at 60 with no load. Anyway, Thank you for the help.

However, could you let me know of any solution regarding to this? In addition, my BIOS settings are being overridden by some of dell's software and throttle stop. May I know if that's okay?

Hello Mate , I would like to ask you what is going on with you with the G15 5530.
Hello. The mentioned issue is fixed. I had forgotten to update that here. I noticed that the fans were not spinning at all unless the CPU reached over ~70 degrees and I noticed this through AlienwareFX software. All these took place because it was in the balanced preset. However, when I switched to the high-performance preset, the fans started to work at 40% and the CPU is now averaging at 46 degrees. The fans gradually increased their speed as the temperatures of the CPU increased. So, I think that issue is fixed. I assume that the presets now work after an update of the software. But I wanted to create a different forum relating to the CPU downclocking itself and not working up to its fullest potential. Even when benchmarking it using Cinebench, it maxes out at 88% and never to 100 unless I disable Intelppm which in turn makes the CPU always run at its maximum clock (2.80) and I think that's not how an average CPU (powerful or not) must work like. I compared this to one of my other computers which has an i7 4790 and it always leverages just about its maximum clock (3.60). I hope to find all the possible reasons for this. Especially if they're anything related to Intel SpeedShift, Turbo, Turbo 3.0, SpeedStep, HyperThreading, or C-states.

Hello mate i had the same problem but i switched to custom preset in AlienFX you can give it a try it is more good even in games you can set the max temp of the CPU to reach is 85C still with a little waste of FPS frames but still the CPU does the job of overall games here is my custom one : HERE are the images

Oh okay. But I think the temperatures of the CPU is fixed. However, its the maximum usage and clock that I am most worried about at the moment. Sometimes, the CPU maxes out at 88%, 82%, 75%, 39%, and sometimes as low as 32%. These values are all I get when I do a benchmark (which is supposed to push the CPU to its fullest potential). Thus, I hope to find a reason to it. I shall post screenshots of the anomalies a bit later.
