I have question about my laptop, so I have a dell g7 7588 gaming laptop how can I make it so will using my dedicated gpu? I have a gtx 1060 max q design but yet on my laptop display adapter it's still say Intel UHD Graphics 630? I'm stumped I feel like i search everywhere and tried everything. I tried going through nvida control panel and setting the perferred graphics in there and nothing. I tried disable the intel card to only be left with micosoft display adapter

now this where its confuses me a lot I have an external display that I can plug in via HDMI that will use my Dedicated card which is fine but which I don't understand why the laptop screen still using the intel gpu? am I missing something here? i really don't understand this at all. does it switch to the card when i start playing games example: overwatch would it detect that i start that game and it switch to the dedicated card or not.. screen shots below showing display 1 and 2

In Laptops dedicated means that GPU will act like secondary one. After installing proper drivers(nvidia your case) you may able to select which game/Application to run on which GPU. for the normal 2D it will use the CPU integrated graphics. Only high end 3D application will be able run on that 1060.

That's how Laptop dedicated GPU works. it's not like PC.
So far according to my knowledge those dedicated GPUs can't use as the primary GPU of a Laptop

How do you say that, is that because of tearing or something?
Or Have you found that GPU Idle while you gaming?

nvidia control panel--> Manage 3D settings-->program settings.
Here there should be a way to assign a GPU to the applications you running.
