Hello

I recently bought a Dell G7 and i'm struggling using 144hz on my BenQ. Ive used 144hz for 2 years on my desktop pc, so nothing wrong with the monitor. My laptop only has HDMI & Mini DP, so i tried a few HDMI cables, unable to set 144hz. I got a Mini DP to DVI converter to hopefully game on 144hz, but with no success. After struggling to get the display to work with the mini DP, i looked inside the menu of the hz's, and i can only set 60. As far as I know, MiniDP can run 144hz without a problem, so i really dont know what I should try.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Gauthier

Solution
No.
Appropriate adapter for DP to dual link DVI conversion (high refresh rate) will cost much more.

You will need mini DP to DP converter + that expensive DP to dual link DVI adapter.

Depends what DP standard it is and what standard the cable is

What monitor? Does it have DP input?
If yes, then use mini DP to DP cable.

If no, then only option to get high refresh rate for that laptop is DP to dual link DVI adapter. Those things are expensive.

This is the converter: https://www.bol.com/nl/p/mini-displ...Tcli_shipment_confirmation_standard2008093611

My monitor: benq zowie xl2411p

So my monitor does not support mini DP input, that's why i bought a mini DP to DVI.

Specs says, your monitor has DP 1.2 input. Use that with mini DP to DP cable.

Thank you all for the answers. I dont know if i haven't been clear, but I dont have a DP input on my monitor. I have HDMI, DVI & VGA. I tested high speed HDMI cables, but both dont cover 144hz. So from what i know about hardware, my only option is to use the mini DP to DVI. unfortunately, that doesnt cover 144hz aswell.

Any ideas? I really dont wanna go back to 60hz.

You probably have an XL2411Z then, not XL2411P.

In that case, see section 0 here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/how-to-connect-to-a-120-hz-display.3268285/

Then perhaps you have a different monitor model.
Could it be xl2411 instead of xl2411p? Because that one doesn't have DP input.

Then your only option is either that expensive DP to dual link DVI adapter or a new monitor.
Oh that is really annoying. With a 144hz monitor that has DP, it should all work? thanks.
