Dell GX270 Tower, CPU maximum upgrade

I have a Intel 4 processor 3.4GB HT, that I want to upgrade.

All other specs have been maxed out.

as bios support can be iffy for prebuilt computers your best bet is to find the highest level proccessor that dell sold in that setup and buy that one.

You are already at highest possible choice. Also, it is so old that looking for upgrades are prohibited. I would guess that only light Word and Internet surfing is ok on this PC, not much else. By the way is it WinXP? Or lesser?

Not worth upgrading that dinosaur. You're unlikely to find Windows 7 drivers something that old.

As I recall, the Gx-270 systems (or at least a lot of them) were manufactured with defective capacitors; such that they could pop under normal use.

I would be cautious about taxing the machine, or upgrading it further.
