Cat pee is part of dell's new cost cutting method. Often when injection molding a plastic object, you need a way to quickly separate it from the mold (in addition to cooling it for the next production step.

Cat pee turns out to be very cheap and works quite well with injection molding. It also helps your laptop to turn heads where when you take the laptop out in the coffee shop, everyone says, oooh if that cat pee?

simple solution really. DONT BUY DELL AGAIN. It's too late. These big companies need to learn that once they've burned their bridge, there is no going back. HP business computers suck. Sure the batch you might have work, but the millions of servers w/ defective raid cards that lost ALLLLL the data of hundreds of thousands of customers make people buy a different brand.(at least it should). Sure you can back up, but that's not the point. SOmething as simple as "write cache enabled by default" shouldn't destroy all your data in the event of a power failure.

I'm all for calling out how Dell products are way overpriced for what you get... but really? Did people honestly think there was cat piss on their laptop?! Might as well get tin-foiled hat while we're at it.

Isn't it amazing in this day and age you have to tell QC to make sure the product doesn't smell like cat urine before it ships. I've never heard of a notebook ever having this issue before, another 1st for DELL! Hooray!! Isn't DELL manufactured in Rafael "Ted" Cruz home state? A coincidence or not?

Actually...
"What we do know at this time is that this smell is absolutely not urine or any other type of biological material"

I think poop would be covered under the "any other type of biological material" category.

How they could possibly have missed that during early production runs QA remains a mystery.

I have had a Dell 2412 for a couple of weeks and it stinks too! Not cat pee I think, but a very unusual whiff for electronics - pretty bad to be honest. Anyone else noticed this?

...it was a joke...

do i really have to explain it?
