How you doing,
I have been trying to fix my wife's laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501) for the last 10 hours. If anyone out there is able, I'm hoping someone can give me a solution to this. At this point, I am doubtful that there is an answer and am just about ready to trash it. At this point it's more of an obsession to figure it out. That being said, here you go:
The problem is as follows: Computer turns on, THE "DELL" Logo appears with "Bios Revision 2.4.1" underneath it. Also the loading bar starts to fill and then quits before it finishes loading. You then are then involuntarily taken to the "Windows error Recovery" screen. Underneath that are the typical 2 options of "Launch Start-up Repair (recommended)" or "Start Windows Normally". The Start-up Repair option is the highlighted choice when it loads.
Here is the problem, you cannot implement either one of these because your keyboard is completely ineffectual. The Enter key, arrows (< > ^ v), etc. So the 30 second visual timer on the recovery page keeps going to zero, then fades to black, reloads and the same thing, over and over. Believe me when I tell you, I have tried anything and everything that I'm knowledgeable about and a lot of technicians.
Regardless, thanks to everyone for your time.
