dell inspiron 1545 battery and charger problem

so I have a dell inspiron 1545 and I had to buy a new charger cause the one that came with it stopped charging it. when I plugged it in it didn't work. so I bought a new battery too. and I still have a laptop that only works when plugged in and I can't unplug it. so what's the problem and what can I do?

NOTE: NONE OF THEM ARE DELL!

battery: 11.1V, 4400 mah and 49wh.
charger: 19.5 output, 3.34a and 65wh.

Hi,

If it's not working through its battery that could also mean that there's a hardware connection inside the laptop that is faulty. You may need to open your laptop to check the battery contacts if it's soldered properly into the motherboard. Also do try your old battery and see if it will charge or would stay on. If the contacts are all okay inside the motherboard that means it's the battery that is not working properly.
